Book one in Circe's Recruits features the squads leader - Roane falling hard and fast for the first female of their kind Caitlyn. This book starts off with Caitlyn on the beach just relaxing when two government type guys with a seriously bad body odor inform her she is being taken into custody. Caitlyn realizes rather quickly something is up and before she can be discovered and abducted by the "bad guys" she escapes them and runs into Roane and his soldiers. Roane is instantly feeling the need to mate with Caitlyn as are the rest of his crew which leads to a rather intense free for all with Roane as alpha of her and his men.While I enjoyed this book it needed to be longer. With so many different storylines being introduced I almost felt like we were rushing to the finish line. Admittedly it was a rocky start to the series, but I can see where it has lots of potential to become stellar in both the PNR and erotic capacity.

Roane is the leader of the Circe's Recruits, a natural leader and alpha even before Project Dawn used a virus to transmit a chemical to make specifically chosen members of the military into super soldiers. The problem was out of everyone chosen for the project; all but about a dozen of the men became unstable and murderous. Roane and his team hunt down the rogues and end them to protect normal humans from the beasts the test subject become.
Caitlyn has taken some time away because she has been suffering from an undiagnosed illness, severe headaches, body aches, restless ness, and increased sensitivity to sound, smells, and light. She is at Cape May to relax and focus on herself. As she is on the beach, two men approach her and force her to come with them.
Roane and the team are looking for her because their boss has found out that Caitlyn’s father was one of the men used in Project Dawn that didn’t suffer the side effects of the drug. The team help Caitlyn to escape the kidnap attempt but are determined to take her back to the Compound when the effects of her father’s exposure to the drug make an appearance in Caitlyn.
Honestly, kinda disappointing. I've read a number of marie harte books and this series is lacking. Mostly sex and base needs. Not much character development. Idea has potential, but the revenge series or the works series are better bets.
I found this book mediocre. The romance and erotica were hot but I didn't feel the click between the two characters. I was also disappointed with the plot. The villains were present but not really. There wasn't a clear conflict or climax to this story. I'm unsure if I'll be reading the next book.

This is an good series.
If you like your erotica hot and animalistic (they are Circs afterall) then this is for you. Roane and the guys had a great back and forth going and you could tell they had been friends for awhile and were comfortable with each other. The sex was smokin' with two group scenes, some m/m (though there's a bit of uncomfortable need to it), some m/f/m, and m/f. The group is more for bonding than romantic attraction. There's a clear pairing at the end and a happily ever after.
I wish I read the reviews before I bought this. If I could give this zero stars I would. While I do not mind reading about kink or "rough" sex, the fact that the book started off immediately with non-consensual sex just turned me off right away. After a couple of chapters, the vibe of the book did not get any better so I just stopped reading it and deleted it from my . I almost never do that, which tells you how bad this one was.
